Taiwan's IC backend firms are expected to reach their peak in August 2017
The Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) is reportedly one of the backend suppliers for the upcoming iPhones. ASE has responded by stating that it refrains from commenting on customer orders. Previously, the company had forecasted sequential growth in revenues throughout the last quarter of 2017.
According to the sources, KYEC has entered the supply chain for the new iPhone series by offering testing services specifically for Intel's modem chips.According to previous reports, KYEC chairman CK Lee stated that the company anticipates its sales to reach their peak in the third quarter of 2017. In addition to conducting handset-chip testing, the company is poised to experience strong demand for automotive electronics, CMOS image sensors, graphics chips, and AI solutions.
According to sources, Chipbond is set to provide backend services for power amplifiers from its Japan-based customer that will be utilized in the upcoming iPhone models. Additionally, ChipMOS has formed a partnership with Himax Technologies, which has recently entered the 3D sensing component supply chain for the new iPhones through its wafer level optics (WLO) products.
Moreover, in light of the robust growth in demand for memory chips, it is anticipated that Powertech Technology (PTI) and Walton Advanced Engineering, ChipMOS, and Lingsen Precision Industries - all key backend suppliers - will exhibit strong performance during the third quarter, as per reliable sources.
The revenues at PTI have already surged to a record high of NT$13.93 billion (US$457.7 million) in the second quarter of 2017. Market analysts anticipate that the company is poised for yet another quarter of unprecedented revenue growth in the third quarter.
